Prepping our Butcher Block Counter Top {The $1,000.00 Kitchen Restoration}

We purchased our first Butcher Block counter top for our center island. This ‘Butcher Block Counter top care‘ is new to us. We didn’t realize the work that goes into these counter tops on a monthly, weekly … daily basis, to keep them looking gorgeous.

These counter tops come in contact with food, and they absorb any chemicals that are used to clean. We have started out prepping our butcher block with cutting board oil and butcher block conditioner. We applied the oil daily for one week. Now we’re using the conditioner twice a week for the rest of May.

Starting in June, we have decided to switch to a Walnut Oil application monthly thereafter. Until then, I’m loving how our counter top is looking after using these applications. I’m still glad we decided to install a butcher clock counter top. It seemed like a lot of maintenance at first, but really, once you get through the first two weeks, and see the progress …. it’s worth it.
