Today we installed our backsplash! Thanks to Pinterest, we were able to find a few options to choose from. Going with our end-goal-theme, we opted for a backsplash made from pallets. In other words … FREE.

Our current finished kitchen.

Walls are painted, counters are installed, cupboard doors are on and the under-the-cabinet lighting has been installed. I have to admit, I really like this look. It’s classic, modern and clean. The gray walls and the black cabinets match perfectly with the new countertops.

BUT …. we needed a backsplash. And since the one we wanted would have put us well over our budget, we opted for something a little …. well … FUN.

Just getting started with our DIY pallet backsplash:

This DIY backsplash was fun and easy to do. And I mean  —-> VERY easy to do. The only purchase we made was $8.00 for some Liquid Nails. If you’re not sure what Liquid Nails is, it’s basically an adhesive that we applied to the back of each pallet piece before securing it on the wall. VERY easy process.

We did the backsplash over our sink and over our stove. It took Brad and I only 3 hours to complete the entire project from start to finish. Brad did the cutting and I did the Liquid Nails application and put each pallet in place on the wall. After we were done, we applied one coat of Polyurethane.

Here’s a peek at our finished backsplash!

And ….. we are still $204.00 under budget.
